Pet shop stars - Queensland

Not all pet shops are created equal - some have realised no pets in store mean loyal customers follow, while some still have pets in glass boxes and staff who know nothing about the animals they sell.

Below is a list of pet shops in Queensland that are pet free. If your local store doesn't sell pets and is not on the list, please let us know and we'll include them here!

Pet Centro

737 Sandgate St, Clayfield Queensland 4011

"Pet Centro do not sell animals but DO have rats from the local rat rescue group, they also have lovely friendly staff, hold a wonderful puppy pre-school with a Delta qualified instructor, have a great range of products and often hold event days to raise money for animal related charities. Pets are welcome to visit and the resident dogs are Archie (curly coated retriever) and Paris (mini poodle). We love Pet Centro, they are an outstanding store :)" - Kissindra

Pet Cafe

10 Stewart Rd, Ashgrove Brisbane 4060

"The team at Pet Cafe are fabulous and the only pets in store are their own! They have everything a pet could possibly want and Luis the Chihuahua is always on hand to advise on the best doggie treats. Pet Cafe are great at giving advice on anything from chicken care to where to go for help with pet behavioural problems. I love Pet Cafe!" - Vickie

Perfect Pets

Shop 14-15, 119 Youngman St Kingaroy Queensland 4610

"I often get people asking why I don't sell puppies - my answer is I will not support the Puppy Mills/Farmers. The majority of people have NEVER heard of a Puppy Mill or Farm. I do not sell puppies or kittens as I will not promote puppy farmers. It sickens me to think of what these animals go through." Joanne

PETstock

Multiple locations across Queensland

"I was informed that my local Petstock is pet-free and I was very happy to hear that they have a pet-free policy in all stores. They have had a very positive response from their customers. They are now referring customers to the RSPCA & other animal shelters promoting adoption. They have won me back as a customer and I let them know that I would add them to your list of Pet Shop Stars. This may be old news to you but it made my day. I am overjoyed at their new policy. If a large company like Petstock can change their ways then the campaign is working and we are on our way to putting puppy farms out of business." - Michelle

"I would like to mention the the Pet Stock franchise as being stars. Specifically the Sunshine branch contacted DOGS Victoria for Responsible Dog Ownership materials. The manager there said so many people came into his shop looking for puppies and he tried to explain to them why they shouldn’t buy puppies from a pet shop. He wanted some printed material to give his customers to discourage them from doing so. Good on Pet Stock!" - Karen

"Hi, I always patronise Petstock Ballarat as they do not sell pups or kittens in their stores." - Eileen

"I think the franchise chain called Pet Stock need to be congratulated.
The do no sell dogs and cats through their stores. They are very proactive in their local communities, supporting local business and they encourage responsible pet ownership, with puppy pre schools etc. I have frequented two stores here in Adelaide – the Parafield store and the recently opened Prospect store. All staff are knowledgeable and friendly." -
